Sustainable Steel Reporting: Transparency in Environmental Practices

At SBQ Steels, we are committed to sustainability and ensuring transparency in our environmental practices. As part of the steel industry, we understand the importance of measuring and reporting on key aspects of our economic, environmental, and social performance.

We believe that transparency is crucial in building a sustainable society, which is why we actively participate in global initiatives and programs. Through our efforts, we contribute to the ongoing development of sustainable steel reporting.

The steel industry has established Sustainability Indicators that are aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. These indicators cover various metrics such as CO2 emissions intensity, energy intensity, material efficiency, and more. By measuring and reporting on these indicators, we strive to enhance transparency and accountability in our environmental practices.

In 2023, we were proud to have 94 steel companies and associations contribute to the data collection, representing 53% of global crude steel production. This participation demonstrates the industry’s commitment to sustainability and our collective effort to create a greener future.

By focusing on sustainable steel reporting, we can ensure that our industry is continuously improving and minimizing its environmental impact. Through transparency, we enable stakeholders to make informed decisions and hold us accountable for our actions.

Join us in our commitment to sustainable steel reporting and let’s work together towards a more transparent and environmentally responsible future.

The Importance of Sustainable Steel Certification

The GreenPro certification is an ecolabel developed by the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) Green Business Centre, acknowledging high standards of environmental sustainability and product performance in the manufacturing sector.

JSW Steel has received GreenPro certification for its Neosteel TMT bars, Roofing Sheets, and Automotive Steel products. This certification signifies that JSW Steel’s products are manufactured with utmost consideration for their environmental impact throughout their lifecycle.

By choosing certified products, automotive manufacturers can make informed decisions, enhance the sustainability of their operations, and contribute to a greener future.

The Role of Steel in Sustainable Development

Steel is an essential material for modern society, playing a crucial role in our pursuit of a sustainable future. Its inherent strength, durability, longevity, and recyclability make it a cornerstone of the circular economy, where resources are utilized efficiently, and waste is minimized. As we strive to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, steel emerges as a vital enabler of sustainable development.

Collaboration with stakeholders is key to realizing the full potential of steel in sustainable development. By engaging with governments, communities, and industry partners, we can work together to create a more resilient and sustainable future. Our collective efforts focus on five key sustainability outcomes: sustainable growth and transformation, safe and healthy workplaces, climate action, responsible products and supply chain, and strong communities.

Our commitment to sustainability is ingrained in our company’s purpose and strategies. We prioritize responsible governance, transparent data reporting, and meaningful engagement with stakeholders. Through these efforts, we drive positive change and contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Steel not only provides the foundation for infrastructure and construction but also enables innovative solutions across various industries. From renewable energy infrastructure to fuel-efficient vehicles, steel is at the forefront of addressing global challenges and building a sustainable world. As we continue to push the boundaries of what is possible, we remain steadfast in our commitment to a resilient and prosperous future for all.
